Adult Books is the first release in a collection inspired by 1970’s New York signage.

A continuation on his marquee zip-track series. Adult Books takes a step further in exploring the use of depth and texture.

The first layer was made using hand painted films to replicate dirt underneath the letters. Followed by a transparent yellow, and multiple layers of gloss to replicate the plastic signage. The final texture was made by scratching the original film positive with steel wool and printing an incredibly transparent matte layer on top of the gloss. While most prevalent on top of the black letters, this added texture truly shines when viewed in the light.

Artist Zak Parsons was born and raised in New Jersey. While growing up New York’s history, grit, and sheer size always had a strong lure.

This edition was printed by hand by Four Finger Press in New Orleans, La.
